Historical and cultural substantiation of the city of Goris, the project of the “Goris” historical-cultural reserve. 1982

The project of historical and cultural substantiation of the city of Goris was developed by a group of authors led by Artyom Grigoryan. The goal of the project was to reveal the historical and cultural potential of the city through comprehensive research to ensure the preservation of material monuments and cultural traditions and to propose methods for the city to develop. Based on the analysis of the urban development of Goris, the project clarified the historical boundaries of the city, identified excavation sites, the boundaries of protected areas and the zones of building regulation of the monuments and groups of monuments. The possibilities and methods of modern use of the historical and cultural heritage of the city have been substantiated. The project proposed to create a historical and cultural reserve, which will become the historical and ethnographic centre of the Zangezur region.
